Mozilla Thunderbird

Add New Account

1. Tools Menu

From Mozilla Thunderbird's Tools menu, select Account Settings...

2. Account Settings

When the Account Settings window appears, click the Add Account... button to continue.

3. Account Wizard - New Account Setup

Click on Email account radio button and click the Next > button.

4. Account Wizard - Identity

Enter your name as you would like it to appear in outgoing e-mail along with your full e-mail address. Click on the Next button.

5. Account Wizard - Server Information

Select the incoming server type as POP. Your incoming and outgoing mail servers should both be set to mail.yourdomain.com, where yourdomain.com is your e-mail domain name.

Click the Next button.

6. Account Wizard - User Names

For the incoming User Name, enter your full e-mail address.

Click the Next button.

7. Account Wizard - Account Name

Enter a name for the account. You can specify any desirable name for the account. Click the Next button.

8. Finishing up

Click the Finish button to complete the setup of your new e-mail account.

Edit Existing Account

1. Tools Menu

From Mozilla Thunderbird's Tools menu, select Account Settings...

2. Account Settings

When the Account Settings window appears, click once on the name of the configuration you wish to edit so that the configuration is highlighted. (For most users only one configuration will be listed. If you have old unused accounts listed you will want to delete the accounts, Thunderbird may encounter an error when trying to check an old unused account.) Enter your name as you would like it to appear in outgoing e-mail, along with your e-mail address. You may fill in the other fields as desired.

Click on Server Settings sub-category to continue.

3. Account Settings - Server Settings

The server type should be set to POP Mail Server. The server name should be set to mail.yourdomain.com substituting yourdomain with your actual domain.

Do not check the "Use secure authentication" option, this is not currently supported.

Click the Outgoing Server (SMTP) sub-category to continue.

4. Account Settings - Outgoing Server (SMTP) Settings

Set the server name to mail.yourdomain.com substituting yourdomain with your actual domain, port 25. Check the "Use name and password" option and enter your full e-mail address for the User Name.

Click the OK button to complete the changes to your existing e-mail account configuration.
