Netscape Communicator 7

Add New Account

1. Edit Menu

From Netscape 7's Edit menu, select Mail & Newsgroups Account Settings...

2. Account Settings

When the Mail & Newsgroups Account Settings window appears, click the Add Account... button to continue.

3. New Account Setup

Select Email Account radio button from the New Account Setup portion of the Account Wizard. Click on the Next button.

4. Identity

Enter your personal information in the Identity portion of the Account Wizard. Enter your name as you would like it to appear in outgoing e-mail. Enter your full e-mail address on the line below. Click on the Next button.

5. Server Information

Your incoming and outgoing mail servers should both be set to mail.yourdomain.com, where yourdomain.com is your e-mail domain name. For the incoming mail server type, select POP.

Click the Next button.

6. User Name

For the User Name, enter your full e-mail address. Click the Next button.

7. Account Name

Enter the name of the new account. You can name the account in any way that makes sense to you. Click the Next button.

8. Finishing up

Review the account information and click the Finish button to complete setting up your new e-mail account.

9. Setup complete

Press the OK button to close the Mail & Newsgroups Account Settings window.

Edit Existing Account

1. Edit Menu

From Netscape 7's Edit menu, select Mail & Newsgroups Account Settings...

2. Account Settings

When the Mail & Newsgroups Account Settings window appears, click once on the name of the configuration you wish to edit so that the configuration is highlighted. (For most users only one configuration will be listed. If you have old unused accounts listed you will want to delete the accounts, Netscape 7 may encounter an error when trying to check an old unused account.)

Enter your name as you would like it to appear in outgoing e-mail, along with your e-mail address and any other information you wish to fill in. We recommend setting the reply-to address the same as your e-mail address.

Click the Server Settings sub-category.

3. Server Settings

The server type should be set to POP Mail Server. The server name should be set to mail.yourdomain.com substituting yourdomain with your actual domain.

Do not check the "Use secure authentication" option, this is not currently supported.

Click on the Outgoing Server (SMTP) sub-category.

4. Outgoing Server (SMTP) Settings

Set the server name to mail.yourdomain.com substituting yourdomain with your actual domain, port 25. Check the "Use name and password" option and enter your full e-mail address for the User Name.

Click the OK button to complete updating your existing e-mail account.
